Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster: 7D7N14R FIFO from Perth or Busselton

 

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our Solomon Mobile Maintenance team.

 

In this permanent full-time role, you’ll play an important part in keeping our mobile fleet safe, reliable and performing at its best. Working across site as required, you’ll bring strong mechanical capability, a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to delivering quality work in a fast-paced mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs to maximise equipment reliability, availability and productivity.
  • Diagnose faults and overhaul, service and repair mechanical components including engines, gearboxes, clutches and braking systems.
  • Inspect and repair light vehicles, trucks and mobile plant in line with operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Complete scheduled and breakdown maintenance, including inspections, oil changes, general servicing and responsive repairs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications while ensuring labour, materials, tools and equipment are used safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to effective shift handovers, maintain tools and equipment to a high standard, and support safe and productive site operations.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Australian-recognised Mechanical Trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role maintaining light vehicles, heavy vehicles and mobile plant within a mining environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Auto electrical, air-conditioning, tyre fitting and wheel alignment experience will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with the capability to step up and lead when required.
  • HR driver’s licence and additional relevant high-risk licences or tickets will be highly regarded.
