About the Role
Jimblebar Mine, Mobile Equipment Maintenance division are pleased to be sourcing for this rare opportunity for a highly talented technical & diagnostic Autonomous Haulage Technician to join the team. The successful trade professional will work both in the workshop and it in the pit when required, alongside workshop and breakdown fitters, both in the workshop and in pit operations which brings a great deal of appealing variety to this role.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor you will:-
- Provide the highest-level of commitment to the maintenance, calibrations, repairs and breakdowns to a fleet of Caterpillar Autonomous 793F trucks
- Develop and collaborate a strong working partnership with workshop and breakdown fitters of our Mobile Maintenace team both in the workshop & in pit operations
- Showcase your level of expertise and passion for Cat knowledge by performing regular cat autonomy network fault diagnosis, electrical repairs, in pit servicing and assisting fittters
- Thrivenin the variety that this role provides you as a diverse and talented trade qualified individual with a passionate for CAT and a strong knowledge of Autonoumous Trucks where no two days will be the same
- Contribute to our safety and continuous improvement culture, BHP Operating Systems (BOS), by being pro-active and demonstrating a commitment to high standards of execution within your trade
- Operate mobile equipment within limits of competence, training and experience
- Ensure accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required
- Actively contribute to the hihgly positive working culture and safety first mentality of JImblebar mine and its people
About You
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Australian Recognised Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate
- Extensive experience diagnosing, maintaining attending to breakdowns of Cat Machinery, 79F Dump Trucks as preference
- Caterpillar competencies on 793F Dump Trucks. (Preferred ET, VIM’s or Command training)
- C Class Drivers Licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well within a close-knit team to achieve outcomes
- Strong heavy vehicle mechanical fitting maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities (Cat, Cummins knowledge adv.)
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work of schematic drawings

This role will allow the successful candidate to work along some truly amazing people from the workshop and pit operations and of course; Back at our highly catered for camp facilities with an abundance of facilities and activities which are highly regarded. Location
You will be based at our Jimblebar mine site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on a fly-in fly-out, 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster. Our FIFO villages have a wide range of facilities and all rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning to help you unwind, relax and sleep well. We know the more time you can spend at home the better, so in addition to our flights out of Perth, our Jimblebar and Newman operations are now offering those that live in WA’s beautiful South West region direct flights from Busselton.
Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. The rollout of BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills.
Jimblebar was the very first mine site to become fully autonomous at BHP.
