About the Role
We are pleased to be seeking several experienced Autonomous Haulage Technicians with demonstrated experience maintaining and diagnosing a fleet of Autonomous Cat 793F Dump Trucks in our Mobile Equipment Maintenance Division (Predominantly Newman Operations - Newman West) to conduct planned and/or breakdown maintenance and repairs,
Roster or Relocation: These positions offer an 8/6 7/7 rotating day/night roster. - Fifo from Perth. Alternatively, Ihe Mobile Maintenance division also offers residential positions based in Newman, with option for company housing, reduced rent and significantly reduced water and electricity based on the subsidies available to you. We can discuss options that may suit you on application. This is a very popular option for many applications should this lifestyle change suit you.
Our Mobile Equipment Maintenance division, Newman Operations based in Newman West are excited to be adding these brand-new Autonomous Haulage Technician positions to our division and will form part of our high functioning, close knit, talented and diverse team of valued staff ready to welcome you on-board.
The successful trade professionals will work both in the workshop and it in the pit when required alongside workshop and breakdown fitters, both in the workshop and in pit operations providing a great deal of appealing variety to this role.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor you will:-
- Provide the highest-level of commitment to the maintenance, calibrations, repairs and breakdowns to a fleet of Caterpillar Autonomous 793F trucks
- Develop and collaborate a strong working partnership with workshop and breakdown fitters of our Mobile Maintenace team both in the workshop & in pit operations
- Showcase your level of expertise and passion for Cat knowledge by performing regular cat autonomy network fault diagnosis, electrical repairs, in pit servicing and assisting fitters
- Enjoy the variety that this role provides you as a diverse and talented trade qualified individual with a passionate for CAT and a strong knowledge of Autonomous Trucks where no two days will be the same
- Contribute to our safety and continuous improvement culture, BHP Operating Systems (BOS), by being pro-active and demonstrating a commitment to high standards of execution within your trade
- Operate mobile equipment within limits of competence, training and experience
- Ensure accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required
- Actively contribute to the highly positive working culture and safety-first mentality of Mt Whaleback mine and its people
About You
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Australian Recognised Heavy Diesel and/or Auto Electrical Trade Certificate,
- Extensive experience diagnosing, maintaining attending to breakdowns of Cat Machinery, 793F Dump Trucks as preference
- Caterpillar competencies on 793F Dump Trucks. (Preferred ET, VIM’s or Command training)
- C Class Drivers Licence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well within a close-knit team to achieve outcomes
- Strong heavy vehicle mechanical maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities (Cat, Cummins knowledge adv.)
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work of schematic drawings
- Command/Terrain Training would be preferred however not essential

The Mt Whaleback mine is part of the Newman processing hub and is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, six kilometres west of Newman.
