Autonomous Project Engineer

Work Location: x2 at Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

x2 at Christmas Creek -  Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

Roster: 8:6 (FIFO from Perth to Site)

Role overview:

Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will be responsible for driving the project objectives and deliverables of autonomous production mining projects at Iron Bridge & Christmas Creek

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Project Management and implementation of new operational technologies, including managing schedules, budgets, and stakeholders.
  • Reporting on project status to multiple stakeholders, across all levels of management on regular cadences
  • Developing and maintaining project plans and communicating them to operational stakeholders to achieve project milestones
  • Assisting in site inspections to ensure compliance with project safety specifications.
  • Assisting in regular forecasting of project costs and accruals.
  • Assessing subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Ensuring an exceptional safety culture is maintained.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with autonomous mining systems
  • 5+ years experience in an open cut mining environment
  • 1+ years experience in project management and implementation of new technology projects
  • Must be able to work with wide-range of stakeholders, building and maintaining rapport, understanding stakeholder needs and using influencing skills to establish a win-win outcome
  • Advanced computer literacy & passion for Mining Autonomy, Innovation and Technology
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities at the same time
  • Proficiency of Mining Systems is essential
  • Mine design / planning skills highly regarded
  • Quarry Managers Certificate of competency highly regarded
  • C Class Manual drivers licence
