About the Role
We are currently recruiting a senior instrumentation discipline engineer with specialisation in balanced machines to work within our Asset Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team.
You will be the Subject Matter Expert for BHP’s fleet of over 40 Balance Machines focusing on reducing business risk, improving reliability and performance through the utilisation of best in class technical support and engineering practices.
Reporting to the Superintendent GTS - Balanced Machines, key responsibilities include:
- Technical Authority on all functional changes to balanced machines instrumented systems
- Represent the asset in review and acceptance of new balance machine systems
- Provide coaching, mentoring to operational teams
- Provide engineering support and diagnostics to breakdowns
- Participation in Root Cause Analysis/Investigations and improvement implementation
- Engineering and improvement business case development
- Input to strategic direction in balanced machine fleet management to impact overall cost and efficiency and identifying improvement initiatives
- Build excellent working relationship with key stakeholders including OS/Site Maintenance / Engineering Managers & Superintendents
- Monitors compliance to minimum technical standards in respect to Balanced Machines
- Approves and develops engineering standards, systems, and processes related to Balanced Machines
About You
You will be a highly skilled Engineering professional with expert knowledge of balance machines. You thrive on delivering key outcomes focused around safety management, technical governance and continuous improvement.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- A proven track record of safety management
- Minimum tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechatronic/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation)
- Proven success in a similar role
- Intimate understanding of Balance Machine load limiting devices as per AS4324.1
- TUV FS Engineer or Exida CFSP qualifications
- High level understanding and application of best in class engineering practices including Australia Standards related to Balanced Machines
- In field experience in balanced machine inspections, repair and component change outs
- Site based practical experience with commissioing and operations
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
