You will gain the hands-on experience crucial to a successful mining career, as well as the soft skills essential for exceptional leaders.  Our Vacation Work Program will see you build on the skills developed through study and apply them to real world situations.  

The program is open to students currently completing a tertiary degree in Mining Engineering. Our program is designed for students to gain valuable underground experience. We encourage successful students to participate in winter and summer vacation work with us over the course of their degree, with the goal of joining the Barminco Graduate Program upon final completion.  

During the program you will: •    Actively participate in a variety of hands-on underground tasks, complementing your theoretical learnings. •    Work a 2 weeks on/1 week off roster at some of Australia’s best mining operations. •    Be competitively remunerated. •    Have the opportunity to kickstart your mining career!  The Barminco Vacation Work Program lets you learn industry-leading, safe practises from some of the most skilled underground miners in the world. Key Requirements: •    Enrolled in a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.  •    A strong desire to expand practical underground knowledge. •    Previous site experience working underground or open pit is desirable. •    Proficient use of MS Office suite. •    Ability to meet all site access requirements (including, but not limited to, Medical, DAS, NPC & valid manual Driver’s Licence). •    The right to work permanently in Australia.   What you bring: If you have a genuine desire to work in Operations; if you are a hands-on, practical person with a fascination for underground mining, we are very keen to meet you!!
