About the role:  We are currently seeking a Bench Hand at our Wilpinjong mine. Our Wilpinjong mine is an open-cut mine located 58 kilometers northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets.

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, the scope of your role will be to assist the shotfirer in daily loading activities including assisting with measuring and setting out of blast positions. 

Duties will include:

• Maintain and follow safe loading practices
• Ensure correct signage and communication is carried out
• Active involvement in blasting improvement techniques
• Comply with all safety requirements

The lifestyle:

This position is offered on a lifestyle roster and can allow for a Residential lifestyle. Employees living locally may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of your mortgage interest or rental payments. 

About you:

The successful candidate will need to have 1-2 years + experience working with a shot-firing crew, a current Police Clearance and Driver’s License. They will also demonstrate;

• Strong safety values
• Knowledge of drill & blast procedures
• An ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills
• The ability to work well in a team
