Drill and Blast Operator
Work location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Roster: 8:6 (8 days on, 6 days off) flying Thursday to Thursday
We are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Drill and Blast Operator, responsible for ensuring drill and blast activities are conducted in a safe and cost-efficient manner.
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, these positions will also be required to provide sufficient quantity and quality of blasted stock for mining or processing.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Demonstrate behaviour that aligns with FMG values
- Comply with Zero Harm principles daily
- Meet daily operational targets
- Perform all duties as directed by the Drill & Blast Supervisory Team
- Operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensuring all associated equipment is maintained in a safe condition
- Ensuring Drill & Blast patterns are kept to a high standard
- Using techniques and procedures that improve performance and cost efficiencies
Qualifications and skills required:
- WA Class HR Driver's Licence
- Senior First Aid
- Dangerous good security clearance
- Current WA Shotfirer's Licence
- Mobile equipment operation in mining industry – desirable
- Communication/ interpersonal skills - two-way operation
- Knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection and OHS Act/Regs
- Basic computer skills
- Time management skills
