About the Role:

We are currently seeking qualified Boilermakers with proven experience with Fixed Plant equipment to join our friendly shutdown crew This position will be maintaining fixed plant equipment across our WAIO mine sites. Our roles are full-time permanent and a great opportunity to join Operations Services BHP. These roles will be working a dynamic roster (182 shifts per year). More information can be found here

This position will include but is not limited to; 

  • Review drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
  • Select correct materials for the job to be cut
  • Mark out material such as steel plate, pipe, PFC etc in preparation for cutting or bending
  • Cutting of marked out items as per dimensions on drawings using oxy cutting torches, band saw etc
  • Preparing of items using power or hand tools ready for assembly
  • Measure and examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications before welding
  • Inspect completed works and grind, sand, polish to required finish using hand and power tools to a high standard
  • Ongoing contribution to a safe BHP work environment by participating in field leadership activities, take 5’s, JHAs and toolbox talks.
  • Work with supervisor to ensure all jobs have been inspected before they leave the workshop

About you:

We are looking for the following talents:

  • Experience in Shutdowns or Fixed Plant Maintenance is essential
  • BHP mine site experience highly regarded
  • Trade Certificate as a Boilermaker/Welder
  • Experience having maintained crushers will be highly regarded
  • Highly safety focused
  • Dedicated and enthusiastic
  • Keen to learn with a willingness for self-improvement
  • Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Able to commit to a 182 dynamic roster (182 shifts, 7 days locked in in advance, 4 weeks look ahead but not guaranteed)
