About the Role

Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.      Our greatest asset is and has always been our people and communities, which is why we are committed to working together on our Pathway to 2030 – a program to responsibly close Mt Arthur Coal. Key Accountabilities:  

  • Support the approach and implementation of BOS practices in focus areas and activities during the deployment phase.
  • Work with action learning teams to create, build and iterate BOS practice content and methods for the focus area or activity.
  • Coach and build capability of the Site Coach and BOS teams in their initial BOS practices build and implementation.
  • Knowledge share and guidance of practical, physical and visual application of BOS tools and methods, in line with the BOS deployment model.
  • Embed core routines and behavioural changes among operational leadership, enabled through the central BOS team, to support and sustain the BOS.
  • Enabling progression/progress of BOS site maturity assessments. 

About You

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following:  

  • Demonstrated experience leading or coaching senior leadership.
  • Proven experience working with a continuous improvement culture.
  • Proven experience implementing or building content for a range continuous improvement tools in a range of operational environments. 
  • Proven experience, knowledge and mature understanding of BOS (Lean) philosophy, techniques and approaches.

CRITICAL SKILLS, ACCREDITATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline or relevant experience.
  • Deep operational experience with lean tools including value-stream mapping, Kaizen, daily accountability, 5S, visual management, Gemba walks, etc.
  • Ability to sustainably implement continuous improvement behaviours.
  • Experience leader and coaching senior leadership in a matrix environment.

Although it is critical that you already have CI/Lean experience, you will receive full BOS Immersion training to support your role and ongoing mentoring and guidance from experienced Coaches to ensure your success.  Your diversity of thought and practical experience will be embraced, and you will be working with a Manager who encourages open communication and will empower you to utilise your existing knowledge and skills to make a real difference. This role will be based at Mt Arthur Coal in the Hunter valley NSW, offered as residential 5&2 on a 24-month fixed term contract.
