About the role

We are looking for a Botanist to join our Biological Assessments team in Perth (with occasional site travel). Focusing on Botany within the Pilbara region these roles will be engaged on a full time permanent basis.

This role is a great opportunity for a motivated, safety conscious professional to join a multi-disciplined team; applying knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guides to Pilbara-focused environmental approvals and associated surveys.

Reporting to the Specialist Biological Assessments, you will:

  • Independently lead biological surveys in remote Pilbara areas
  • Undertake effective survey planning including, sampling design, logistics and health and safety
  • Prepare technical reports, data, analysis and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists
  • Contribute toward an inclusive culture through collaboration with peers across the broader Environmental Approvals team

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in botany science or related.
  • Demonstrated experience as a field botanist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make sound rational decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly develop positive and robust relationships with stakeholders
  • Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS
  • Experience/awareness of remote sensing techniques and environmental applications
  • Must hold Australian working rights (international relocation not provided)

Perth based but with a working focus on the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
