About the Role

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our BHP Jimblebar Mine Site, reporting to the Superintendent Mobile Maintenance.

Responsibilities of the role include:

•    Being first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team •    Identifying, building and developing team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development •    Prioritising the execution of work based on condition of risk of equipment to prevent unplanned failures and supervise the execution of the weekly work schedule  •    Managing and execution of equipment breakdowns in a safe timely manner •    Planning and scheduling break in work as based on risk of equipment failure •    Identifying and implementing Maintenance Execution improvement initiatives with support from Maintenance reliability team  •    Allocating resources to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes as part of work activity planning  •    Offering continued development and mentorship to your team and ensure competency of individual maintainers in the safe performance of their duties.

Location Western Australia Iron Ore- Jimblebar

You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster.  Jimblebar is an autonomous truck mine and operated by BHP.  Producing up to 70 million tonnes per annum of high grade lump and fines product. It is located 40kms Northeast of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at the modern FIFO village include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet, ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.    

About You

You believe in the value that maintenance can bring to an organisation. If you have worked in a maintenance role in heavy industry, aviation, manufacturing or similar and believe that your maintenance future could be in mining then we might have a relevant opportunity for you if you hold the following:  

  • An Australian Recognised Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate
  • Have previously leadership experience
  • C Class Drivers Licence (HR would be ideal)
  • Able to demonstrate leadership through your regular core routines (Pre-start, Team Meetings, One-on-One’s, Time in Field, Assigning work, Handover and Cross Team Meetings)
  • Are a visible leader in your team’s work environment
  • You understand the goals of each of your direct reports and what motivates them
  • Create an environment where two-way feedback is invited and encouraged and people feel safe to do so
  • Remain open to new ideas and be adaptable to change your plans when required
  • Ensure quality risk assessments are completed to control risk
  • Identify and control occupational exposures – clear understanding of risk profile for the team
  • Ensure an  appropriate level of planning in place to minimise risk associated with work performed
  • Verify the right risk assessment tools are being used at the right time to manage the risk (Take 5, JHA, Formal Risk Assessment)
  • Allocate tasks and resources to team members in-line with their competencies
  • Monitor progress against plan escalate as per team requirement.
