Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding areas occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we are looking for

We are currently seeking a new team member to join our Mining Projects team based at Cadia to support a significant mine expansion development project.

Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, you will be accountable for providing financial and commercial support to the mining projects team, with a key focus on business planning, month-end reporting, cost analysis, forecasting and project performance reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform Monthly Cost Accounting to allocate costs based on physical cost drivers.
  • Complete Monthly Reporting Accountabilities; coordinate month-end meetings and variance analysis for month-end report.
  • Co-ordinating quarterly Business Planning Process for the Mining Projects Department and active projects.
  • Preparation of Monthly cost and capital data in accordance with reporting timetable
  • Assist in maintaining adherence with Cadia Commercial and Project Management governance requirements.
  • Interaction and co-operation with other Cadia departments, and Newcrest Shared Services.
  • Partnering with operational stakeholders to identify and implement cost and operational improvement opportunities.

In order to excel in this position, its essential you have a great attitude, exceptional attention to detail and a strong motivation to learn.

About you:

  • Tertiary-level qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or related discipline
  • CPA/CA Certification, or working towards
  • Experience and knowledge in mining or heavy industry is not essential, but highly regarded.
