About the Role
As the next Line Technical Specialist you will provide ongoing coaching to line leaders and the general workforce in the application of the BHP Operating System (BOS) tools and methods, and work to embed a new way of working throughout the workforce.
You will build problem solving skills across all levels of the business to support the frontline and engage and empower the workforce. You will be hands on in implementing systematic improvement initiatives and play a central role in sustaining the BHP Operating System across our business.
You will utilise innovative approaches, tools and technology to add real value to our assets – setting new standards to guide improvement activity, elevating and supporting our people. You will gain insight and training in the BOS and LEAN methodologies and will use this knowledge to upskill and develop others through your work.
Your key deliverables include:
- Embed BOS tools among the frontline teams to make improvement part of every day;
- Driving the identification and implementation of continuous improvements in frontline safety, productivity, and cultural metrics;
- Create new digital standardized work instructions, implement changes to existing SW instructions based on improvement feedback and process confirm SW execution;
- Providing coaching to the frontline in business improvement and standardised work methodologies.
This role is based at our Broadmeadow Mine in Moranbah, Queensland. This is a drive in drive out role working a Monday to Friday roster with flexible work options. Local housing or full camp accommodation will also be provided along with relocation to Moranbah for the right candidate.
About You
We are looking for individuals that possess business knowledge, demonstrate excellence in leadership on a day-to-day basis, who are innovative with a bias to action, can effectively influence others and have a strong ability to build capability in others and lead change. This is a supervisor/specialist level role.
To be successful you will demonstrate the following:
The ability to effectively identify opportunities to increase value and eliminate hazards, waste and variability;
- A strong ability to coach and influence stakeholders to achieve results;
- Strong problem solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions (e.g. through RCA, 5 whys, PPS etc);
- Ability to understand production/maintenance (systems) data (previous exposure to Corvus, 1SAP, and other fleet management systems is highly desirable);
- A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) &;
- Ability to positively engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to senior level management.
- Exposure to underground coal mining is advantageous but not essential
Although it is desirable that you already have experience in continuous improvement, you will receive training to support your role and ongoing mentoring and guidance from experienced coaches to ensure your success.
