About the Role
Reporting to the BHP Operating System (BOS) Line Coach, you will be working in a team of professionals located in both Perth and the Pilbara supporting Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) frontline leaders in the application of the BOS methods and tools, embedding a new way of working. The NPI portfolio includes 10 villages consisting of over 11,000 rooms, two aerodromes, over 2,600 houses across the townships of Newman and Port Hedland, Yarnima Power Station, HV networks, and over 20 potable water schemes.
You will upskill everyone in problem-solving skills and support the frontline and leaders to develop and sustain new ways of working. You will be hands-on in implementing systematic improvement and be central in embedding the BHP Operating System across our business. You will utilise innovative approaches, tools, and technology to add real value to our assets – setting new standards to guide improvement activity, elevating and supporting our people. You will gain insight and training in the BOS methodology and will be expected to upskill others through your work.
Your Key Deliverables
- Continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and cultural metrics.
- Provide coaching to leaders and the frontline workforce
- BOS tools embedded among the workforce
- Progress reports on implementation and other BOS tools.
You will be fully trained in the BHP Operating System to support your role, and ongoing mentoring and guidance from experienced Coaches will ensure your success
Location
In this permanent full-time role, you will be on a FIFO 5/2/4/3 roster. You will be initially working in Newman, transitioning to Mining Area C and Port Hedland as the deployment progresses. You will be working across both sites at Newman Operations. Newman Operations West is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide, making it the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. Newman Operations East is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- The ability to effectively identify opportunities to increase value and eliminate hazards, waste, and variability.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions.
- Experience in a leadership or influencing role.
- Ability to understand production/ maintenance (systems) data.
- Ability to engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to higher-level management.
- While it is not mandatory, experience with Lean/ Continues Improvement will be advantageous.
