Olympic Damis one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.​

About the team

The deployment phase for the BHP Operating System (BOS) at Olympic Dam is complete. Throughout deployment the mine has established ways of working based on an understanding of key Principles and Practices. Whilst BOS deployment has come to an end, there is an expectation to sustain continued advancement in the maturity and application of BOS.

The Continuous Improvement team is an integrated Improvement team for the mine, providing clear alignment on the improvement journey and supporting continued maturity in BOS practices across all teams.

About the Role

Line Technical Specialists (BHP Internal title for Business Improvement Specialist) play an important role in identifying and supporting delivery of frontline improvement initiatives and building lasting capability and maturity in BOS ways of working.

This role will see you develop influential relationships with multiple functions and stakeholders. You will be required to work collaboratively within the Continuous Improvement Team, and across many stakeholder groups, where you will drive continuous improvement opportunities by respectfully

challenging the status quo.

You will also provide ongoing coaching and support to Supervisors and Frontline in sustaining BOS practices, tools, and methods across the site as the way we work.

Reporting to Line Coach, you will apply agile ways of working to deliver against mine priorities. Your key accountabilities include:

  • Role model and coach the BOS practices and tools to continually grow BOS capability and way of working to drive planned business impact.
  • Continue to guide and work with relevant stakeholders to build, test and deploy practical solutions to improve work methods.
  • Facilitate problem solving sessions with the frontline to identify the root cause of problems, collaboratively problem solve and explore opportunities to implement Standardised Work (SW) and BOS tools.
  • Coach and support the Frontline with SW and BOS tools, maintain standard routines, driving innovation through role modelling, knowledge sharing, coaching and training.
  • Analyse, report and present on the progress of and changes to the implementation of SW and other BOS tools to Management and stakeholders.
  • Create new standardised work content including implementation of changes to existing SW content based on improvement feedback and process confirmations of SW execution.

About You

We are looking for individuals that possess business knowledge, demonstrate excellence in leadership on a day-to-day basis, who are innovative with a bias to action, effectively influence others, and have a strong ability to build capability in others and lead change.

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Ability to effectively identify opportunities to increase value and eliminate hazards, waste, and variability
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions
  • Ability to understand production/maintenance (systems) data
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to higher-level management.

Location

In this full-time permanent position, you will be based in Roxby down and working on 8D6X roster. There is option for FIFO, DIDO or Residential.
