Business Intelligence Engineer

Emeco Group (ASX: EHL) was founded in 1972 and is a world leader in maximising the performance of heavy earthmoving equipment. It has operations in all key mining regions of Australia and its customers include mining companies and contractors across coal, gold, copper, bauxite and iron ore.

Due to rapid growth and expansion within our technology department we are now on the hunt for a Business Intelligence Engineer. With in this role the successful individual will play an integral part in designing, creating, and managing complex BI and analytical solutions that turn data into actionable insights. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to breakdown complex problems into manageable solutions while ensuring functional and design requirements are met.

The Role:

• Develop and maintain scalable and efficient data models, ETL processes, and data pipelines using a range of technologies including Microsoft SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics. 
• Design and implement interactive and insightful dashboards and reports using PowerBI, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and usability. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for BI solutions. 
• Optimize BI solutions for performance, reliability, and scalability, ensuring timely delivery of insights to stakeholders. 
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of BI solutions to identify and resolve issues promptly. 
• Stay up to date on industry best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies in business intelligence and analytics. 
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. 

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5 + years experience as a Business Intelligence Developer or similar role, with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL, Python, PowerBI and Azure services.
• Demonstrated experience using advanced PowerBI features such as DAX and Power Query.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, and ETL processes.
• Proficiency in querying and manipulating complex datasets using T-SQL and other query languages.
• Demonstrated experience using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake Services for data analysis, integration, and processing.
• Expertise in designing and creating visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards and reports using PowerBI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Familiarity with Dynamics 365, Dynamics GP or similar ERP/CRM systems is a plus. 
• Experience in mining or related industries technologies will be beneficial.
• Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing a high-performing team.
