We are looking for a Business Partner, Category Manager, Rail, to support the Rail divisions in Rio Tinto Iron Ore to deliver against key priorities of Safety, People, Cash, Partnerships and Growth. This multi-faceted role will see you work collaboratively with the Asset teams, the Global and Regional category teams, and with our network of suppliers.
This role is a great opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated individual who is experienced in leading and delivering sophisticated commercial outcomes. With your sharpened influencing and negotiation skills, you will have the ability to interface with a variety of stakeholders at different levels inside and outside of the business, to deliver against key priorities.
Part of a broader procurement team that supports RTIO’s supply chain assets across- railways, ports, facilities, utilities you will report to the Senior Business Partner, and will be:
- Supporting rail divisions that span the breadth of Rio Tinto Iron Ore, along with leading a small team of procurement professionals
- Working across the end-to-end procurement process, driving local procurement outcomes, and sourcing for operations and capital projects
- Enhancing social, environmental and financial value by formulating Rail category strategies, negotiating and managing contracts across Rail, whilst ensuring Regional and Global commercial strategies are aligned with divisional priorities
- Leading interactions with divisional leadership for projects led by your team, or Global and Regional procurement colleagues, and identifying opportunities to enhance value by proposing new initiatives impacting divisional performance
- Leveraging partnerships and the holistic workforce approach to improve indigenous employment outcomes and conducting sustainable direct engagement with Pilbara Aboriginal Businesses
- Collaborating with our Contractor Management teams and our key contract Partners to develop their safety maturity and to improve safety performance
About you
You are a leader who is passionate about developing people and building an inclusive culture. Your prior experience in procurement and supply chain, commercial analysis, strategy development, negotiation, building relationships and macro thinking will see you succeed in this role!
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- 10+ years related experience in commercial analysis and negotiation, contract review and/or supply chain analysis
- Experience in contract and category management
- Advanced leadership, stakeholder management, innovation and negotiation competencies
- Rail domain knowledge and experience- domestic and/or international is advantageous
