About The Role

Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join the Whitehaven Coal People & Culture team.  Based at the Narrabri Mine and reporting to the Group Manager - Human Resources, this is a true HR generalist role providing functional HR support to Leaders and employees. This role works closely with the broader People & Culture team, key business stakeholders and is part of the site leadership team.

What You’ll Do
This role provides practical and contemporary HR advice, solutions and coaching to Leaders that aligns with the business objectives and workforce requirements.
To succeed in this role, you will be a HRBP with an excellent work-ethic and a passion for continuous improvement who can communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation. You will work closely with the broader HR team to ensure a wide cover of support is available to the business.
You will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Provide comprehensive advice, support, and education for leaders on people processes, policies and procedures, employment legislation and enterprise agreements
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of ER/IR processes such as workplace investigations, disciplinary, performance management and EA negotiations.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure workforce optimisation, capability, and organisational design.
  • Support annual HR cycles in performance, remuneration, and benefits and participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and HR projects.
  • Use HRIS tools to deliver and support business activities.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years HR generalist experience ideally within mining, heavy industry, or construction environments
  • Tertiary qualifications or working towards obtaining tertiary qualifications in Human Resources
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best HR/ER practices and employment legislation
  • A record of accomplishment in delivering meaningful HR programs and change management
  • Proven success in the development and implementation of human resource programs and initiatives
