We are looking for a Business Partner Sustaining Capital to lead the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Supply Chain Services post-award contracts team, which is responsible for providing commercial advice, and leadership to the RTIO Sustaining Capital Delivery Teams to support the successful and safe project delivery of the sustaining capital project pipeline.
In addition, the role is responsible for the management of an end-to-end major project contracts team for the successful delivery of Clahdo, a major infrastructure upgrade at Cape Lambert.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate success in team leadership and engagement, strategic thinking, negotiations and familiarity with construction agreements and claims management.

Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, Sustaining Capital and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Procurement team, you will demonstrate:
- Leadership skills to develop and mentor an engaged team of Contracts Advisors and embed our people at the heart and relay race culture initiatives;
- Ability to lead a successful end-to-end contract lifecycle major project team;
- Demonstrable ability to articulate and live Rio Tinto’s values of Care, Courage and Curiosity;
- A curious mindset, building an integrated team, supporting collaboration within RTP Sustaining Capital, Sustaining Capital and RTP;
- A proactive approach in seeking opportunities to leverage and align on commercial strategies across RTP;
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills to drive the ongoing improvement of sustaining capital processes and maturity;
- Well developed negotiation skills with demonstratable strategic thinking to resolving complex negotiations;
- Ability to lead our strategic procurement transformation as we continue to unlock synergies from the program approach;
- A holistic and robust approach to safety, contract management, risk, change and project management across your assigned portfolio ensuring that all material risks are identified and managed.

- Understanding of end to end construction contract management, and procurement processes;
- Exceptional level of stakeholder engagement skills;
- Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience leading complex contract or claim negotiations;
- Proven agility and ability to manage change programs;
- A tertiary degree in business, law or commercial discipline is highly desirable;
- A background in project contracts and procurement is highly desirable.
