About the role:  We are currently seeking a Business Support Officer to be based at our Fortitude Valley office.  

Reporting to the Lead Procurement, the scope of your role will be to contribute to the operational excellence of the end-to-end process for the purchasing and paying of supplies, services, and equipment for mining operations. The employee will have a shared services mindset.

Duties will include:

  • Understanding and exceeding customer service expectations
  • Addressing workflow/invoice issues in an accurate, timely and controlled manner
  • Collaborating to ensure shared understanding and accountability with customer(s) and suppliers
  • Fostering a culture of agility and change
  • Continuously improving processes through further automation, digitization, analytics, self-service, mobility and end-user training
  • Address purchase order and invoice related workflow and system matters for assigned region
  • Work closely with our chosen outsourcer (TCS) to deliver exemplary transaction processing and service to sites and suppliers, especially the services receipting process
  • Review and maintain documented procedures relating to site workflow activities
  • Review and monitor site SAP workflow processes via system management reports such as PowerBi and SAP VIM Analytics or other reporting tools
  • Monitor weekly reports sent to site stakeholders and anticipate issues for further analysis and discussion
  • This role will require occasional travel between mine sites. 

The lifestyle:

  • This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, you will be required to be in the office at least three days per week, with the option to work from home for up to two days as per your managers discretion. Peabody offers flexible start / finish times and redistributed working week giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Friday’s.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; relevant work experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in purchasing, Accounts Payable, category management or related field
  • Cross cultural/international work experience preferred
  • Practical working knowledge of automated materials and purchasing systems like SAP, Ariba, Fieldglass, Opentext VIM, and others
  • General knowledge of related accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of core purchasing activities and supplier relationship management
  • Adaptability – Maintains effectiveness in changing working conditions
  • Third Party Management – Identifies and documents third party service issues
  • Problem Solving – Identifies, analyses, and resolves issues to improve business performance
  • Driving Results – Holds self-accountable for performance and works to meet individual and business objectives
