Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy. Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector, excellent educational facilities, shopping, recreation activities, transport, and other services such as childcare.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an organised and safety-conscious Shutdown Technician to ensure safe and on time shutdown maintenance activities are carried out to a high standard. Reporting to the MHS Conveyors Specialist, you will work within our Major hazard, Critical Control framework to ensure the assets within the Cadia East Underground Mine, Ridgeway Underground Mine and ancillary infrastructure are maintained to allow the mine to achieve desired production targets.
This multi-faceted opportunity will see you work closely with contractors and the improvement team to identify opportunities for improvement and create an environment where everyone is empowered to manage change.
Other key deliverables include:
- Ensure that all changes within the Shutdown maintenance strategy are communicated to the right people using the correct documentation
- Actively participate in Safe Production Meetings, shutdown meetings and crew discussions during shift to foster teamwork
- Provide specialised contractors working on incline conveyors and crushing areas with a high level of supervision, technical knowledge and a sound understanding of under fixed plant maintenance and outages
- Incident Reporting and participation in investigations as required
- Carry out RCA, in the event of rework or product failure, using appropriate engineering support to help facilitate the outcome providing root cause and actions to control a reoccurrence

In addition, you will also have:
- A relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification, either as a Fitter or Boilermaker
- Proven experience in the maintenance of fixed-plant equipment within mineral processing environment; underground mining experience highly desirable
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Project, Excel & Word
- Ability to operate Integrated Tool Carrier, Bobcat, JCB/Merlo (desirable)
Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at Cadia on a 5 days on/ 2 days off roster.
