About the role

We are looking for Capability Development Advisors who are responsible for ensuring employees meet regulatory and legislative requirements, as well as hold and maintain the appropriate skills, knowledge, and behaviours to perform in their role to fulfil Rio Tinto’s strategic and operational objectives.

This is a great opportunity to leverage your strong training and development skills whilst engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Superintendent Capability Development and working in a collaborative community you will be:

  • Coordinating and facilitating on-site onboarding and other training
  • Executing capability development reviews, providing insights and analytics, in particular focused on License to Operate and HRW License VOC status
  • Performing Contractor Management duties for vendor-led site-based training
  • Providing analytical input for on-the-job trainer development, including mentoring and capability uplift
  • Engaging with new operational leaders around Learning Management Framework systems, Capability Development Strategy, and priority deliverables
  • Partnering with the business to understand its strategic plans/priorities and guide key stakeholders through the efficient development of new learning assets
  • Identifying opportunities for development and rationalisation of systems and the adoption of a common / consistent approach to learning
  • Providing direct support for your leader and coverage when required
  • Adopting and promoting new learning technologies

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelors / Diploma / Certificate IV Training and Assessment – desirable
  • Excellent communication skills to influence, engage and build strong rapport with key stakeholders
  • A passion and curiosity to build knowledge of your stakeholders and the work they do
  • Effective time management skills, the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse groups to achieve desired outcomes

Where you’ll be workingThese roles will be based at one of our sites in the WA Pilbara region, offered on a FIFO basis ex Perth. The roster will be offered as 5 days on, 2 days off; 4 days on, 3 days off (5:2, 4:3).
