About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Projects Superintendent will lead a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, Supervisors, and Technical Specialists responsible for delivering the capital projects portfolio at Saraji Mine.

In this role, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from early definition and planning through to execution and close-out, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives.

Success in this position requires a combination of strong leadership, disciplined project management, and the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders and functions. You will foster collaboration, drive accountability, and maintain a clear focus on value delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement.

This position is based at Saraji Mine (Dysart, QLD), on a Monday to Friday roster, with Residential, DIDO, or FIFO options available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of Saraji’s capital projects portfolio, ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality targets are achieved.
  • Provide technical and people leadership to Engineers, Supervisors, and Technical Specialists through all project phases.
  • Drive governance and assurance processes in line with BHP’s Project Management Framework.
  • Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with BHP’s standards, procedures, and commercial frameworks.
  • Oversee financial performance, cost control, and forecasting for the capital program.
  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive culture that encourages ownership, learning, and innovation.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with site operations, functional teams, and external partners.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using BOS, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Champion BHP’s values and ensure safe systems of work are embedded across all project activities.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering (RPEQ preferred, but not essential).
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery of small-to-medium capital projects within mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to develop, coach, and empower teams.
  • Commercial acumen with experience in procurement, contracting, and risk management.
  • Skilled in SAP, MS Project or Primavera, and engineering data systems such as Aconex and AutoCAD (preferred, but not essential).
  • Highly motivated, safety-focused, and results-oriented with a strong customer mindset.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Committed to driving improvement, innovation, and continuous learning.
