We are looking for a Category Specialist Technology Projects to join our team. You who will be responsible for executing end to end procurement activities in partnership with the Rio Tinto Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Partnering and Projects function.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology procurement professional. You will enjoy working as part of the Global Technology Procurement team, collaborating with a range of stakeholders to influence and manage a broad portfolio of work. You have a passion for process improvement and transformation and can speak the language of today’s technology landscape. Reporting to the Principal Advisor – Projects within the Global Technology team you will:
- Develop and execute technology sourcing strategies for projects and closure activities
- Coordinate market engagements via RFP, RFI or other approved mechanisms
- Manage the assessment process including identification of selection criteria and moderation
- Develop and negotiate contracts with technology suppliers of infrastructure, software and services
- Monitor and manage contract performance throughout the delivery of a project
- Build and manage effective relationships with a broad range of internal stakeholders
- Provide commercial leadership and guidance to the relevant stakeholder teams
- Support the syndication of stakeholders and relationships both internally and externally during the delivery, implementation and on-going management of sourcing projects
- Build and grow relationships with relevant suppliers to drive innovation and value through the scoping, sourcing and negotiation phase
- Work effectively in a global team; and
- Facilitate a seamless handover to the category management team to ensure value continues to be optimised
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have had significant prior experience in Technology Procurement as well as a proven record of leading to drive successful commercial outcomes. You will also have experience working with project teams to source solutions for complex business needs. Your ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal & external stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement is essential.
