Fortescue’s Chaplaincy and People Support delivers confidential, 24/7 global care to all team members and their families. This role is dedicated to providing inclusive, respectful, and holistic support, walking alongside individuals through both personal and professional challenges and opportunities. The Chaplaincy and People Support team plays a key role in nurturing a safe and respectful workplace culture—one that values diversity, embraces inclusion, and promotes wellbeing across the organisation. Through compassionate engagement, the Chaplain offers a trusted, confidential space for individuals seeking guidance, connection, or simply a moment to pause and reflect. The role is instrumental in ensuring every person feels heard, respected, and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential chaplaincy, pastoral care, and wellbeing support, promoting holistic care across social, emotional, mental, and spiritual domains
  • Deliver 24/7 on-call support as required, offering appropriate care, guidance, and referrals in line with organisational policies and procedures
  • Uphold professionalism, inclusivity, and neutrality, respecting diverse beliefs while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business and contribute to a safe, respectful, and supportive workplace culture aligned with Fortescue values
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including participation in regular professional supervision and reflective practice

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Counselling, Social Work, Health, or a related discipline
  • Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or an equivalent form of reflective practice
  • Mental Health First Aid certification (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated history of, and ongoing commitment to, personal formation, reflection, and professional development/training
  • Proven experience in providing pastoral care across a variety of settings
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence (or global equivalent)
  • Current Working with Children Check (or global equivalent)

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage compassionately with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with a high level of initiative, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical practice
  • Sound computer literacy, including the ability to use digital systems for communication, record-keeping, and reporting
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to urgent situations, and maintain resilience in a dynamic environment
