The Darlot mine is located about 900 km northeast of Perth and 121 km north of Leonora, in the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to UG Shift Supervisor, the Charge Up Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, charging, and firing development and production drill holes in underground mining operations. This role ensures full compliance with Vault Minerals' operational procedures, legislative requirements, and best practice safety standards to achieve production and safety targets.

This position will be offered on an 14:14 FIFO roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Load and charge development faces, production stopes, and rises using authorised explosives and detonators in accordance with site procedures.
  • Conduct blast tie-ins and ensure blast area is properly prepared and isolated.
  • Monitor and inspect charged faces for safety compliance prior to blasting.
  • Maintain explosives magazines and consumable inventories.
  • Safely take delivery, transport, handle, and use explosives and detonators in compliance with Dangerous Goods Act requirements.
  • Operate light vehicles and charge-up equipment as required for blasting activities.
  • Conduct basic maintenance inspections on explosive delivery equipment.
  • Accurately complete blasting reports, charge plans, and log sheets.
  • Communicate clearly with mining crews via two-way radio systems during charge-up and blast activities.
  • Manage the opening and closing of the underground tag board
  • Assist with other underground tasks as directed by supervisor.

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in underground development and production charge up position
  • Working knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations, procedures and explosives handling.
  • Extensive experience in the efficient handling, transport, and storage of explosives, blasting agents, and the charging and firing of development faces or production stopes.
  • Currently hold Shotfirers ticket, Working at Heights and Dangerous Goods & Security Card.
  • Hold a current WA C Class Driver’s license
  • Previous experience in Gas Test Atmospheric environment (Site Inducted) and ANFO is highly desirable.
