Role Details

• Location: Snowy River Gold Mine Project – Reefton, New Zealand’s South Island
• Roster: 7:7 (Local) or 14:14 (FIFO)
• Accommodation allowance provided for local personnel
• Flights, transport and accommodation provided for FIFO personnel

About the Role

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeking experienced Charge Up Operators to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island. 

As part of this exciting opportunity, Macmahon will deliver underground development, production and backfill services from October 2026.

We are looking for safety-focused operators with proven underground mining experience, including the operation of Normet charge-up equipment, to play a key role in our growing underground team.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate Normet explosive charging equipment.
• Handle, transport, store, charge, and fire explosives and blasting agents in accordance with site procedures and legislative requirements.
• Carry out development face and production stope charging activities while maintaining compliance with site blasting, evacuation, and safety standards.
• Install and remove mine services and ventilation as required.
• Complete pre-start inspections, identify and report hazards or equipment defects, and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
• Follow mine plans, supervisor instructions, and traffic management procedures to support safe and productive operations.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 12 months experience as a Charge Up Operator.
• Demonstrated experience in development and production charging.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.
• A team mindset and reliable work ethic.
• Commitment to contributing to a positive culture.
• Valid Class 1 (unrestricted manual) New Zealand drivers licence (essential).
• Valid Class 1 Explosive License New Zealand (essential).
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate (essential).
