About the Role
Reporting to the Production Planning Superintendent you will be responsible for the operation of a modern well-equipped laboratory, which provides high quality analysis of commercial products as well as timely analysis of process control samples, to facilitate the operation of the smelter.
The Chief Chemist also has a supervisory requirement of a 24/7 operational laboratory.
Through your ongoing coaching and development of your team you will maintain and enhance quality assurance processes to ensure best practice.
This role is on a Monday – Friday roster (with flex) based in Kalgoorlie and is offered on a residential basis.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading a culture of care through visible safety leadership and an uncompromising commitment to health, safety and the environment
- Supporting operations by supplying accurate, quality assured and timely analysis of these commercial/export products
- Detecting potential or actual non-conformances, assessing their significance and recommending preventative or corrective actions
- Applying specialised technical knowledge to critically analyse and resolve complex problems
- Report using verbal responses, data entry into laboratory information management system (LIMS) and brief written reports
About You
- A technical or tertiary qualification is required, aligned to the role
- Significant experience in a laboratory or chemist position
- Proven experience in a processing operation
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, these will be key components of this role as you will work with closely with a variety of stakeholders
- A proven track record of safety management
- The ability to effectively engage on multiple deliverables
- A current valid drivers license
