Owned by Yancoal, Yarrabee is based in Blackwater QLD which is 200 km west of the Capricorn Coast. Yarrabee is a proud producer of high-quality PCI coal since 1982. We employ approximately 400 people, who are our most valuable asset and we invest in developing our management and leadership talent throughout our operations. Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. Yancoal Australia also manages five other Australian coal mines on behalf of related parties. Yancoal currently employs over 3,000 people across its operations.

We have a new opportunity for a CHPP Contracts Superintendentto join our team at Yarrabee Mine.

About the Role

Reporting to the CHPP Manager the CHPP Contracts Superintendent The successful candidate will be required to: 

  • Administrator and management of the CHPP contracts and engineering projects as required
  • Build and maintain the ongoing engagement and management of critical internal and external stakeholders relationships
  • Develop and implement strategies, plans, practices and policies that reflect industry best practice and generate value for money outcomes
  • Participate in commercial negotiation and successfully navigate the obligations of Yarrabee CHPP
  • Support, manage and develop the contract capability of a team to enhance team performance and facilitate professional development
  • Provide leadership and direction to team members to ensure effective support while providing strategic advice and an escalation point on evaluation of contractual and commercial issues

About You

To be considered for this position, it's essential that you bring: 

  • Tertiary Qualification Engineering, Contractor/Project management or an associated discipline
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team of professionals 
  • The ability to communicate, network and build relationships with other business functions 
  • A strong safety focus and excellent leadership, project management, time management and negotiation skills.
  • Current open driver’s license (mandatory)

Advantageous to your application;

  • Asset Integrity knowledge in a broad range of equipment (pressure vessels and piping, rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical infrastructure, civil and structures).
  • Understanding of Reliability Principles within a processing plant, manufacturing or related industry
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory codes and standards
  • Knowledge of Capital Project processes and business case development
  • 10+ Years experience in a related industry
