We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Works Supervisor, you will be required to assist with the operation and inspection water and tailings management ensuring that safety and environmental standards are met and improved, whilst meeting internal and external customer expectations as well as the operation of various pieces of mobile equipment, excavator (3T & 5T), loader, skid-steer and tippers. The role responsibilities are outlined below:
- Provide a timely response to operational issues identified through inspections.
- Assist with Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Environmental inspections completing to relevant site standards
- Operate mobile equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the CHPP and General works responsibility.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including production and safety improvements.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in the role, you will have the following skills and attributes;
- Water Facilities and Tailings management experience.
- Perform tasks as assigned to you by your leader to provide high quality output which satisfies customer requirements.
- Team focused and capable of working independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively and share knowledge and information.
- Pro-active approach to problem solving with the ability to work well under pressure;
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with industry relevant qualifications HR Licence, excavator (3T,5T) & < 10T Loader.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Communicate and coordinate activities that aid in achieving the Water and tailings management plan e.g. permits, road maintenance, weed control and improvement work.
