About the role:
We are currently seeking a talented professional for our CHPP Manager position at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV), located 156 kilometres south west of Mackay. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of three open-cut mine operations producing premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) through two CHPP facilities for export markets.
Reporting to the General Manager, and as an integral part of the Site Senior Management Team, the position CHPP Manager will be responsible for the safe, cost effective processing practices and continuously improving coal preparation and rail load out practices. You will be responsible for delivery of a series of improvement initiatives directed at consistent operation of the CHPP to meet business targets.
Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety and the environment for the department
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide leadership and coaching to the members of his/her team to ensure we get the best out of our people
- Deliver optimised production and coordinate resources to ensure work targets are met.
- Interfacing regularly with aligned departments to optimise safety, maintenance and production efficiencies
- Monitor operating costs ensuring that spend is controlled to the allocated budget
- Ensuring that employees are adequately instructed and complying with all safety procedures and systems, HR policies and procedures, relevant statutory legislation
- Regularly inspecting workplace for safe work practices and environment and actively promoting mine safety among the team
- Tracking and communicating to employees about overall CH&PP performance and broader site issues.
- Leading the CHPP Maintenance team to ensure targeted plant availability and other related KPIs are achieved.
- Identifying workplace issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
- Promoting a team culture of continuous improvement and innovation, including cost saving initiatives

About you:
Critical to your success will be:
- Extensive metallurgical background within the coal industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operations and/or maintenance of a coal (or similar) minerals processing plant
- Relevant competencies and Tertiary Qualifications
- You will be a proven leader with a highly developed commercial acumen and have a passion for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
- You will enjoy the challenge of managing contract operations and ensuring safe and environmentally responsible operations are maintained.
