Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating large mobile and ancillary equipment supporting the CHPP production tasks as directed
  • Working towards achieving the shift plan by being a motivated and enthusiastic team player
  • Managing coal stockpile movements and perform train loading operations
  • Carrying out maintenance tasks during maintenance periods and breakdowns
  • Proactively contributing to the safety of the team by identify risks & hazards and reporting appropriately
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and making suggestions 
  • Encouraging and modelling good housekeeping & equipment care

Skills and Experience

  • Experience and qualifications operating Komatsu Haul Trucks, Caterpillar Dozers, Caterpillar Wheel Loaders and other various mobile equipment
  • Minimum 2 years' previous experience in a CHPP or with proven experience executing similar maintenance and operational tasks
  • Mechanical or Boilermaker Trade Qualification (essential)
  • Detailed knowledge of equipment relevant to the CHPP and systems such as conveyors, pumps, feeders, screens, rotary breakers and training loading systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmentally responsible practices
  • Excellent hazard identification skills with a willingness to improve safety in the workplace
