We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
An opportunity exists for an individual who can demonstrate strong knowledge and capability in leadership and team principles. Working a seven-day rotating roster (12-hour shifts), you will be responsible for:
• Leading, mentoring and effectively managing a multi skilled crew to deliver output; • Planning, scheduling & coordinating the day to day work, assigning clear and achievable tasks to team members; • Ensuring all team members are engaged through clear understanding of role accountabilities and performance measures by providing regular feedback on performance; • Ensuring our license to operate is maintained to a high level. This is achieved by full compliance to necessary workplace inspections and housekeeping activities during the shift.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in the role, you will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
• Relevant trade qualifications (Electrical or Mechanical); • Demonstrated experience in a similar supervisory role; • A solution focused approach and commitment towards safety; • Strong technical understanding within a CHPP mining environment; • Strong interpersonal skills supported by proven stakeholder engagement skills; • An understanding of coal quality and train loading; • Proficient in the use of computer systems i.e. SAP, Microsoft office suite.
