Yancoal MTW is currently seeking a motivated engineer to join our team.  You will be a part of our Technical Services team who are responsible for short, medium and long term mine planning, drill and blast engineering, pit geology and survey.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Our planning scope and close relationship with Mine Operations allows us to support our people to develop their skills and reach their potential.  The position is within the Short-Term Planning (STP) team. You will be responsible for delivering quality engineering outputs through designing, monitoring and communicating effective designs and schedules.  This role requires strong involvement, communication and engagement with our operations. Reporting to the STP Senior and working a Monday – Friday roster, you will be part of a successful team that enjoy what they do and value each other’s contributions. The role will require: •    Direct involvement in the development of daily, weekly and monthly plans.  •    Assist in road and mine designs •    Ensuring machine and dump set up is planned and prioritised to meet critical dates. •    Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and site standards.  

Skills and Experience

•    A Tertiary qualification in Engineering or in a related discipline, •    Previous experience in planning in a civil or mining environment, •    Experience with CAD design software packages, •    An eye for detail and an ability to develop practical and achievable designs and schedules, •    Strong communication and time management skills, •    Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, •    Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills, and •    NSW driver’s license.
