About GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company, the operation is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

This role is a 4/3 Roster, Monday – Thursday, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential on a full-time ongoing basis. 

About the role

The purpose of this role is to:

• Provide structural and civil design expertise for the operation, which includes:
  • Review and action change management requests associated with repairs, modifications, and projects.
  • Provide relevant technical knowledge and input for the development of projects.
  • Provide relevant technical knowledge and support for the Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Undertake structural inspections of existing assets and provide structural expertise in relation to the structural integrity management standard.
• Provide expert understanding and working knowledge of Australian Standards that may impact or govern the GEMCO Operation.

About you

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

• Experience in a Civil/Structural role in an operating asset.
• Be able to apply safety, health and environmental Principals and procedures in a workplace and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant current Work Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Expert knowledge of AS/NZS Standards.
• Be responsible to produce complex and detailed engineering designs and drawings.
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrate understanding of the fundamentals of project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Structural)
• Class C Driver’s License
• Eligible for RPEQ or CPEng.
