About the role

We are looking for an AHS Mining Excellence Coach to join the team to provide autonomous haulage systems (AHS) productivity coaching and upskilling for mining teams, with an aim to build equipment operating capability from competent to resilient.

This role is suitable for an experienced high-performance operator/pit patroller with a drive for excellence and training others. ​

You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. Working on an 8 & 6 roster, you will have more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.

Reporting to the Superintendent Production, you will:

  • Adhere to all Rio Tinto health and safety standards, policies and procedures and report any safety hazards and risks to the appropriate channels​.
  • Coach operators on both load and ancillary equipment to increase operational efficiency​
  • Coach team members on safe AHS behaviours, including safe loading practices and area management, safe dump interaction and pass area management​.
  • Observe operating practices and suggest improvements to drive productivity with a data driven approach​.
  • Review performance with operators and individually coach to improve key equipment and system KPIs (spot, load, swing times, dump configuration etc.)​
  • Liaise with OEMs to identify operational productivity best practices​.
  • Lead recognition programs to improve operator productivity and highlight improvements​.
  • Support pit patroller skill development and training plans and develop training packages and pathway for leadership roles​.
  • Utilise hot seat as mechanism to train operators on an ad hoc basis​.
  • Foster continuous improvement to identify improvements to current practices and processes to improve productivity, including completing weekly RND audits and identifying AHS improvement initiatives​.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety incidents and escalation to relevant supervisor where necessary​.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in operating loading Units
  • AHS trainer experience
  • Previous experience in Komatsu AHS systems within a large open pit mining environment.
  • Thrives on a challenge, can think outside of the box, and has a good understanding of the fundamental AHS concepts that underpin value in the mining industry.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills coupled with your ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of business partners.
  • Manual ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Previous Pit Patroller Experience will be highly regarded.
