About Goonyella
This role supports the Goonyella Riverside Complex which is one of Australia’s largest open cut coal mines situated in the Bowen Basin. Located just 30km north of Moranbah it is perfectly positioned to an ever-growing township with plenty of great amenities and proximity to an airport and the coast. Goonyella Riverside is sustainably embedding the way of the future through operating one of the largest autonomous truck fleets in the world and the largest coal mine in Australia operating the Komatsu autonomous system.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Mine Planning engineer with a solid foundation in the discipline with a track record of working in fast-paced environments. The role is focused initially on the coal extraction and blending to maximise safe and stable coal production. We are seeking an engineer who is highly motivated to solve complex problems and manage hourly / daily interactions at a fast paced mine-site. The role is focused on optimising our coal blend plans for maximum value and sustainability in the 24h to 12 week space. You will draw on your knowledge of coal quality and strong problem-solving skillsets to achieve in this role.
The position is based onsite at Goonyella Riverside but offers flexible travel arrangements and will be an 8/6 roster with FIFO, DIDO or residential opportunities.
In this role you will:
- Bring a passion towards site safety;
- Safely and sustainably maximise asset value through delivering 24hr to 12week coal blends and coal mining plans
- Maximise value and coal quality for our customers
- Manage coal mining capacity and design for coal fleets;
- Provide 24hr plans for both coal mining, dispatch and processing;
- Provide governance over plan inputs to ensure plan feasibility;
- Work closely with external stakeholders (Mine planning – overburden teams, Integrated Operations and site Operations) to understand key value drivers in any given planning horizon and embed in optimised coal mining and production processing plans.
About You
You will have a tertiary education in mining engineering, geology or process engineering. You will have demonstrated experience working as a mining engineer or geologist and demonstrate a high-level safety culture.
You will use your considerable communications & influencing skills to drive positive change, interacting with all levels of the business to achieve goals. Your natural curiosity and diversity of thought will be embraced along with your “can-do” attitude.
