Commercial Manager
Work location: Sydney or Perth
Roster: Full Time
In this role you will report directly to the Group Manager Commercial and will assist and lead the negotiation and management of commercial arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives in accordance with FFI’s strategy. Commercial activities may include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, material contracts, partnerships and projects. Due to the new and broad range of commercial arrangements that you will be putting together, you will need to apply your commercial skills, creativity, and experience to achieve optimum outcomes for the business. You will be supported by a team of subject matter experts from across FFI and may also manage a small team.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Screening, recommending and leading globally significant commercial transactions from start to execution (including engagement of financial and other advisors, due diligence, negotiation and agreement of terms, financial analysis, collaborating with support functions and presenting the business case for approval).
- Supporting regional and business leads in development, negotiation and execution of high value, business critical transactions and projects (including commercial negotiations, financial analysis and preparing the business case for approval).
- Identifying and creating opportunities for value creation in all negotiations and commercial arrangements.
- Developing and managing globally strategic contractor and partner relationships, working collaboratively to identify opportunities to enhance business outcomes for FFI.
- Developing and communicating best practice commercial tools for use across the FFI businesses and regions.
- Managing regional commercial stakeholders to ensure globally consistent approach to commercial matters.
- Managing junior commercial resources, as required.
- Other commercial tasks, as required.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Business or Law, post graduate qualifications desirable.
- 10yrs+ experience managing and negotiating complex commercial contracts in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance or other business development / commercial roles in a global and fast-paced organisation, preferably in resources, heavy industry, energy or infrastructure.
- Experience leading and executing merger, acquisition, joint venture and / or project development opportunities, preferably in the renewable energy or green industry sectors.
- Proven due diligence, valuation and commercial negotiation skills, strong commercial acumen.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, financial modelling experience highly desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong business writing and presentation skills, confidently able to present to senior decision makers.
- Resilient and self-managing with the ability to work autonomously, take initiative, work outside your comfort zone and reliably deliver on tight deadlines.
- Experience leading and project managing cross functional teams, developing team members.
