About the role:  Peabody are currently seeking a Commercial Superintendent to join our Centurion underground mine, Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au)

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role is diverse and value-adding. The major tasks will include financial and management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and Village Management. Responsibilities in this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Participate in safety activities on site
  • Contribute to the identification and monitoring of value-adding projects and promote a positive culture of cost awareness
  • Maintain financial integrity of all accounting records (including the preparation of all GL entries with strict control over capital and operating expenditures)
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly forecasts and associated variance analysis and commentary
  • Maintain all SOX controls and internal control over the company’s assets and liabilities
  • Perform the function of business area expert for SAP and IP
  • Assist with the preparation and review of five year plans and associated presentations
  • Prepare financial evaluations to support decision making by the leadership team
  • Act as Commercial Manager in their absence

About You:

  • A positive attitude, with strong communication skills
  • An ability to work autonomously in order to identify & implement improvement opportunities
  • A tertiary degree in an accounting related field
  • A strong management reporting background
  • At least 5 years post graduate experience
  • Relevant supervisory experience
  • Passion for safety as a way of life
  • Experienced in SAP and ideally Xeras
  • Ideally CA/CPA qualified
  • Ideally a background within the mining, or resources industry

In addition to the above, you will have a genuine commitment to safety and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk and hazard identification. You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible attitude and sound work ethic.

The lifestyle: This position is offered as an onsite position with village accommodation provided for those who prefer to FIFO from Brisbane or DIDO, based on a Monday to Friday 9 day fortnight and can allow for a residential lifestyle living in the township of Moranbah. Employees living locally may have the ability to salary sacrifice up to 50% of your mortgage interest or rental payments.
