Your role as Communications Business Partner for IS&T will involve managing complex, cross-channel communications strategies. You will be responsible for advising the functional SLT on Corporate Affairs strategies and executing these in support of functional priorities. This role will also provide guidance to the communications execution team to enable effective delivery support for core internal and external communication deliverables
Reporting to the Head of Development & Technology and Communications Business Partners, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to our IS&T function particularly the Chief Information Officer, in the delivery of communications support.
- Provides strategic Corporate Affairs advice and recommendations to executive and senior management of the function, across the IS&T global portfolio
- Manages the integrated communications plans covering internal and external stakeholders, facilitating a seamless Corporate Affairs service in alignment with Group standards
- Responsible for designing, implementing and measuring Corporate Affairs strategies to support employee engagement within the function, effective partnering with other parts of Rio Tinto, issues and crisis management, including BRT scenarios
- Provides input into annual reporting cycle activities
- Guides selection of and oversees short term change management and communications resources to enable effective delivery of major projects
- Coaches senior leaders to be better communicators
About you
- Proven ability to provide strategic communications advice and recommendations to senior management, across a single global portfolio
- Proven ability to deliver integrated communications plans covering internal and external stakeholders, providing a one stop service for Corporate Affairs in alignment with Group standards
- Proven experience in designing, implementing and measuring communication strategies for issues and crisis management and BRT scenarios
- Proven experience in providing quality inputs to the half yearly and annual reporting cycle
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to tailor communications for different channels and audiences
- Strong demand management and prioritisation skills
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, based on trust and expertise
- Proven ability to embrace a leadership role in Corporate Affairs, supporting a high-performance matrixed organisation
- Ability to coach senior leaders in the business to be better communicators
