Roster:  Monday-Friday

 

This Senior Communications Advisor role is central to advancing Fortescue’s global reputation as a leader in decarbonisation, while continuing to strengthen its position as a world-leading, responsible mining company. Working within the Global Events and Conferences team, this role supports Fortescue’s executive leadership across Metals and Growth, as well as the Board of Directors, by shaping and delivering high-impact communications for global audiences.

 

The position is responsible for securing strategic speaking opportunities and developing compelling content that clearly articulates Fortescue’s leadership in mining, decarbonisation and long-term growth. It also plays a key role in supporting broader enterprise priorities (e.g. government relations, community engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion and safety) through consistent, strategic and purpose-led communications.

 

The role is also responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of key global events, including large-scale exhibitions, conferences and forums, ensuring alignment with Fortescue’s brand, messaging and strategic objectives.This role will support the implementation of an effective communications strategy, working closely with the Fortescue 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Identify, secure and manage strategic speaking engagements for Fortescue spokespeople across global conferences, forums and industry events.
  • Develop high-quality communications materials including speeches, presentations, briefing notes and key messages aligned to Fortescue’s Real Zero, Metals and Growth strategy.
  • Shape and maintain consistent, impactful messaging that reinforces Fortescue’s position as both a global mining leader and a driver of decarbonisation.
  • Determine and coordinate Fortescue’s brand presence at priority global events, ensuring strong alignment with corporate objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Media, Brand and Internal Communications to deliver integrated and effective communications outcomes.
  • Provide strategic communications advice and support to senior leaders and spokespeople, including media and investor engagement preparation.
  • Lead the development, review and approval of communications materials for external engagements, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging and ASX standards.
  • Protect and enhance Fortescue’s external profile and reputation through proactive and disciplined communications practices.
  • Contribute to and promote Fortescue’s distinctive culture and values through engaging, innovative and purpose-driven communications.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Significant, demonstratable experience working within a similar position across communications, media relations, speech writing and presentations  
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise and impactful messages.
  • Capability to provide communications and media direction to senior executives and other internal stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building effective working relationships.
  • High attention to detail and understanding of ASX listed company standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet challenging deadlines whilst managing competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic team player who is agile and responsive
