Communications Specialist
Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth
Role overview:
Reporting to the Mine Systems Supervisor, this position within our team will ensure safe, effective and timely implementation, configuration and maintenance of the Operational Technology network and radio systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintenance of all site radio (TETRA) and FMS network systems and hardware
- Accountable for the availability of the systems ensuring that there is a high degree of business continuity
- Maintain configuration systems and strategies to required specifications
- Adherence to work orders, work processes and compliance to work schedules
- Follow a defined continuous improvement process to ensure ongoing implementation of best practice for system performance, reliability, and accuracy
Qualification and Experience:
- Apprenticeship, adult trade scheme, Certificate IV in electronics/ communications or Cisco certification highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years post trade experience supporting communications infrastructure (ethernet, fibre-optic, radio, microwave, wireless mesh networks) in a mining environment is essential.
- Proven track record in providing support to a diverse and busy environment.
- Previous experience with MineStar Fleet Management System, Cambium Radio Networks and Tetra Digital Radio systems highly regarded.
- Current WA drivers’ licence
