Technology Operations Communications Specialist

Work Location: Perth Office, with some site travel

Roster: 4D4N8R 

Reporting to the Technology Operations Lead, this position within our team will ensure reliable support for critical technology assets and systems, with responsibilities including critical incident management, root cause analysis and execution of corrective actions.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Take responsibility for Technology Operations incident management following our ITSM processes in line with prescribed SLAs
  • Maintain and improve availability of Technology Operations systems using proactive monitoring and maintenance
  • Reduce MTTI and MTTR during incidents using rapid troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Own the RCA process for incidents to champion continuous improvement and removal of operational risk
  • Understand and apply appropriate risk management concepts to understand the impact and reduce risk of change
  • Quickly establish a critical incident response team to bring focus to P1/P2 incidents that have stopped production
  • Establish and maintain communications with Technology & Autonomy teams, Hive Operational teams and site Production teams as required
  • Own & develop documentation, processes, and maintenance standards to support Technology Operations teams
  • Provide expertise in all areas of Technology Operations, including Data centre and Communication systems
  • Participate in industry-based workshops and seminars where it directly benefits the advancement of operational technologies relevant to Fortescue
  • Engage 3rd party vendors (OEM’s typically) into the incident management process to expedite issue resolution
  • Analyse trends and metrics to advise on capacity planning and forecasting

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 5+ years of experience in the operational technology field within a team
  • Proven track record in providing support to a diverse and busy environment
  • Previous experience with Process control, Mine-Star Fleet Management System, Cisco Mesh, LTE and Tetra Digital Radio systems highly regarded.
  • Experience and interests in Data centre technologies including Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Monitoring/Alerting, Backup and Recovery highly regarded
  • Previous experience in operational support of mission critical services in large-scale environments, preferably mining/resources
  • Sound understanding of networking technologies is important (Cisco training highly encouraged)
  • Excellent communication skills with strong client focus
  • Proven IT change management, incident, and problem management skills
  • Tertiary Qualification in IT / Computer Science / Communications related discipline
