Community and Social Performance Manager

Work location:  Brisbane

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Senior Manager to build and lead a team of experts to support development of the Eastern States’ portfolio. You will be accountable for gaining stakeholder support for FFI’s presence and building enduring relationships with local communities, in support of an ambitious pipeline of green energy and green hydrogen projects. And importantly, you will contribute to building FFI’s reputation as a responsible operator and partner of choice. You will be supported by a team of subject matter experts from Fortescue, as well as being required to build up a dedicated team for the projects in your portfolio.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of engagement strategies to deliver enduring relationships with indigenous stakeholders, the broader community, local government and other interest groups
  • Identify and manage social risk and opportunities associated with FFI business activities and interactions with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a social investment strategy for the region in conjunction and collaboration with indigenous and other local communities
  • Develop and deliver on all required social management plans
  • Contribute to building FFI’s reputation and ‘calling card’ as a responsible operator
  • Assist team members identify and realise FFI’s objectives and values, while meeting current and emerging societal and ESG expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams across the business and provide strategic advice
  • Represent FFI at key regional stakeholder engagements in community or industry forums.

Qualifications and skills required:

  •  At least 10 years’ communities and social performance experience, ideally within the resources sector, energy industry or equivalent
  • Knowledge of social impact management and mitigation methodologies, relevant to energy generation, linear infrastructure, port and industrial processes, or similar
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging ESG considerations
  • Experience in engaging effectively with native title parties, host communities and other project stakeholders
  • High level of passion for renewable energy and community development
  • Proven ability for credible and authentic engagement with strong interpersonal skills
  • High levels of self-motivation
  • Ability to be agile and resilient when managing diverse workloads with multiple priorities, and delivering work to a high quality and on time
  • Able to work independently, whilst also engaging and collaborating in line with the FFI values
