About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Compute & Storage Engineer to work in the Infrastructure Operations IT team supporting Rio Tinto’s high-tech Iron ore business. You will be working among a team of engineering, software, and technical professionals.  The infrastructure solutions we develop, and support host a wide range of technologies – from data historians, web-based applications, integration with and improvements to control systems, data analytics, stockpile management, system security and downtime/delay accounting systems.

Reporting to the Superintendent Process Control Systems and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) Technology Platforms team, you will be:

  • Working within an engineering team to support the 30+ systems and applications used across our business.
  • Administering and maintaining our on-prem OT compute and storage assets, virtualised and physical, across our 18 sites in WA.
  • Upgrading, developing, and implementing new technology-based solutions.
  • Providing technical input to project scoping, planning and implementation phases.
  • Maintaining working relationships with team members to facilitate a culture of shared knowledge and common processes.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for the systems and applications supported by the team.
  • Adhering to change management processes.
  • Facilitating transition to support activities from project to operational support teams.

What you’ll bring:

  • Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience with CyberArk, GoAnywhere MFT, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience with WSUS and/or SCCM.
  • Experience with SolarWind Orion, VMware vROPs
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Exposure to Linux and IT Automation Software (Ansible)
  • Previous experience in a mine production environment would be preferred.

Furthermore, you possess a curious and inquisitive mindset demonstrating a genuine passion for IT technologies, with the ability to keep calm in an environment that can be periodically stressful. You will also have strong communication and customer service skills which are crucial to succeed in this position.
