About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Compute and Storage systems administrator to work in the Infrastructure Operations IT team supporting Rio Tinto’s high-tech Iron ore business. Working among a team of engineering, software and technical professionals. The infrastructure solutions we develop, and support host a wide range of technologies – from data historians, web-based applications, integration with and improvements to control systems, data analytics, stockpile management, system security and downtime/delay accounting systems.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Process Control Systems, you will be:
- Working within an engineering team to support the 30+ systems and applications used across our business
- Administer and maintain our on-prem OT compute and storage assets, virtualised and physical, across our 18 sites in WA.
- Upgrading, developing and implementing new technology-based solutions
- Providing technical input to project scoping, planning and implementation phases
- Maintaining working relationships with team members to facilitate a culture of shared knowledge and common processes
- Creating and maintaining documentation for the systems and applications supported by the team
- Adhering to change management processes
- Trouble shoot breakdowns
- Facilitating transition to support activities from project to operational support teams
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Experience managing and maintaining NetApp storage devices
- Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (VxRail)
- Experience with any other on-prem data storage providers
- VMware certified and experience with managing multiple clusters
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS…
- Experience with Microsoft Azure (beneficial)
- Some exposure to Linux
- Some exposure to IT Automation software (Ansible)
- Previous experience in a mine production environment
- Curious and enthusiastic about IT technologies
- Ability to keep calm in an environment that can be periodically stressful
- Understand the value of customer service
- A sense of humor
