ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Concentrator Operator, you will be responsible for executing production activities at the Concentrator, operating fixed and mobile equipment, and ensuring plant operations meet safety and production standards.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Safely operate and clean fixed plant equipment including conveyors, crushers, screening facilities & stockyards
• Execute production plan activities & monitor plant performance from control rooms
• Perform fault-finding investigations & defect elimination measures
• Identify risks & implement proactive hazard assessments

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Experience with Processing, Beneficiation & Crushers
• Operating mobile plant equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers & overhead cranes (desirable)
• Applying safety procedures, risk assessments & hazard identification
• Contributing to continuous improvement & business initiatives
• Working effectively in team environments with strong mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills
