Condition Monitoring Technician
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue is seeking expressions of interest for suitability qualified Condition Monitoring Technicians to join the team. Reporting to the Condition Monitoring Specialist, you will be responsible to carry out condition monitoring data collection, analysis and reporting of all nominated fixed plant equipment and facilities. Your role will also provide technical input and recommendations for operation and maintenance of fixed plant equipment. Where required, will lead or assist with root cause analysis and failure investigations.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Previous experience in Condition Monitoring and lubrication
- Mechanical Trade qualification and/or reliability engineering background
- Strong analytical and technical skills with high level report writing skills and computer literacy
- Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- C Class Driver’s License
- Minimum VCAT2 certification
- Level 1 Thermography
- NDT Certification (DPI, MPI & UT)
- MLA/MLT Certification (ICML)
- Working experience with CSI – MHM, AHM Databases and 2140 vibration analyser
- Specialized short courses on rotating equipment maintenance, condition monitoring and vibration analysis
- Proven mechanical maintenance / reliability-based experience
- Significant experience in mining or heavy industries with experience in rotating equipment condition monitoring
- Previous use of safety and risk assessment tools such as Job Hazard Analysis and Take 5’s etc
Key accountabilities will include:
- Coordination and completion of Vibration Analysis, Oil analysis, thermography, UT and other Condition Monitoring Techniques
- Provide timely reports and expert advice to key stakeholders on suitable courses of action and monitoring implementation plans
- Creation and continuous improvement of Condition Monitoring Strategies
- Develop diagnostic tools to predict equipment failures and minimize the impact on production
- Providing technical support to the Maintenance Superintendent, Supervisors and Trades people
- Provide specialist support to the maintenance team on lubrication issues acting as a specialist and applying best practices in hydrocarbon management
- Ensure hazards within the maintenance workplace and the processing plants are identified and addressed
- Undertakes post overhaul vibration data (baseline) to ensure that readings are within acceptable limits
- Install/maintain machinery remote accelerometers
- Provide machine information to engineers in preparing maintenance programs/schedules for performance improvement
- Raise notifications for any corrective work or inspection in the CMMS (SAP)
