We are looking for a Condition Monitoring Technician to join our newly formed engineering team at Amrun at a time when very positive growth is underway. This role has opportunity be a strong contributor on several fronts, delivering strength in data reporting with insightful interpretation, deployment of a wide range of technologies. This is not a routine role, but one that will introduce a significant level of business value and technology. The role requires>10 years’ proven in-depth condition monitoring application.

As a Condition Monitoring Technican and working in a collaborative community within the Maintenance and Operations departments, you will:

  • Capture and analyse scheduled vibration, thermography, oil, acoustic and motion amplification data to determine asset health and predictability.
  • Support ad-hoc analytics and effect assessment technical support
  • Participate in daily maintenance meetings and routine planning meetings, supporting shut-down work including baseline and commissioning support.
  • Manage a dynamic defect watchlist, corrective and loss avoidance actions as a partnership with maintenance and engineers.
  • Participate in developing and optimizing the online condition monitoring hardware and software configuration in Bently Nevada System 1 including real-time Health HMI.
  • Deliver periodic screen orbit and other equipment health reports.
  • Work as a part of the team of technical specialists among reliability and mechanical engineers to maximise business growth safely and sustainably.
  • Assess the process of failure pattern analysis and work with reliability engineers to optimise condition monitoring tactics.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Bently Nevada System 1 knowledge/training
  • ISO VCAT II with in depth experience at this level
  • ISO TCAT II with extensive experience
  • ISO LCAT I or above oil analysis interpretation
  • Acoustic / ultrasonic detection and analytics of partial discharge and mechanical bearing defects
  • Caterpillar SOS oil analysis database and reports working knowledge
  • Trade/tertiary qualifications in mechanical/Electrical engineering disciplines
  • 5-10 years condition monitoring on mining process plant, with sound knowledge of condition monitoring standards and early detection of defect onset.
  • Advanced computer literacy (Integrated Information Systems, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Projects, SAP).
  • Well-developed interpersonal and people management skills, relating and working well with trades.
  • Sound judgement, analytical thinking, decision-making skills, well-developed negotiation.
  • This role is part of a motivated and technical team including reliability and mechanical engineers that has clear accountabilities. If you are comfortable with that, we would be keen to see your application.

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.

Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located a short commute from Weipa on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
